A huge Volkswagen Beetle model of 1959 was created in the USA.

Under the hood of a unique car is a 5,7-liter V8 engine from Dodge Magnum. In the US, Volkswagen Beetle fans have created an unusual version of this car. The project that American Scott Tuper and his father are working on is called "Huge Bug". The unusual Beetle, which was shown on the Barcroft Cars YouTube channel, is very large - almost twice the size of the standard model. In terms of dimensions, the car is now ahead of even the Hummer SUV.

According to the creators of the giant Zhuk, initially their plans included the development of a model that is 50% larger than the original car. However, it later turned out that such a car could not get a permit to travel on public roads. Then the Americans decided to limit themselves to an increase of 40%.

To do this, the Americans took the 1959 Volkswagen Beetle as a basis. Having created an identical layout of a 3D scanner, they increased its size by 40%. The basis of the new car is from Dodge. Under the hood of the Beetle is a 5,7-liter V8 engine from Dodge Magnum.

At the same time, the exterior and interior design is almost completely identical to the original Volkswagen Beetle. The creators of the car even add a few modern options to the Beetle. Among them: power windows, heated seats and air conditioning.

As the authors of the guide explain, the main goal of the project is to make the car more meaningful on the road. According to Scott Tupper: "It's very nice to drive a bug and not be afraid of being hit by a vehicle."

Earlier in the USA, the 2 Volkswagen Type 1958 van was equipped with a Rolls-Royce Viper 535 jet engine. The power of this unit was 5000 hp. The author of the project is amateur engineer Perry Watkins. According to him, work on his project took more than two years.
