VAZ 2106. Changing the oil in the engine

This oil change guide is suitable for all domestically produced VAZ vehicles.

How to correctly carry out the oil change procedure on a VAZ 2106 car, for some it seems elementary, but for beginners who have only recently become car owners, this information will be very useful. Be sure to change the oil only on a warm, hot engine. We warm up the engine so that the oil becomes more fluid, and then we turn off the car. It is advisable to change the engine oil either in a pit or on an overpass, or, in the case of a crane, jack up the front of the car so that it is more convenient to get to the sump and unscrew the oil drain plug. After this simple procedure, you need to unscrew the drain plug on the engine sump, either with a wrench or with a hexagon, depending on which plug is screwed into the pan of your car.

We unscrew the oil drain plug and drain it into any unnecessary container. If you want no traces of used oil left in the engine, fill in flushing oil to the lower level on the "Min" dipstick, which is about 3 liters. Then we twist the plug into place, and start the engine and leave it running for at least 10 minutes at idle. Then, we drain the flushing oil again, and proceed to the next steps. Also, when changing the engine oil, it is imperative to replace the oil filter. You need to unscrew the filter with a special remover or by hand, if possible.

After you have drained the flushing oil and unscrewed the oil filter, you can start changing the oil in the Six's engine. Screw the plug back into the pallet, and preferably with a spanner wrench, tighten with medium force. After that, take a new oil filter and first fill the filter itself with oil before replacing it.

Then, screw on the oil filter by hand. Important: do not tighten the oil filter with accessories so that the next oil change does not cause problems with its removal. Now you can pour new oil into the VAZ 2106 engine by unscrewing the plug on the head cover.

Attention: The oil level in the engine must be such that the oil on the dipstick is between the upper and lower levels, approximately in the middle. Approximately, this is about 3,5 liters, but still, it is better to look at the dipstick and make sure that the level is normal. It is not recommended when the oil level on the dipstick reaches the upper mark, since the oil will then be driven out through the oil seals and will constantly "snot" under the engine head.

After the new oil is poured into the engine of your Zhiguli, we twist the plug on the sump cover, insert the dipstick, and try to start the engine. It is recommended that after the first start, immediately muffle it, and then start it again. Be sure to check that the oil pressure light has gone out.
