VAZ 2107 Injector or Carburetor

Since I am the owner of a VAZ 2107 with a carburetor engine, and I also drive a working seven with an injection engine, I can give a comparative analysis of these two cars. Since the seven is the last of the classic models, we will compare the VAZ 2107 cars. The injector began to be put on the seven just a few years ago, and many car owners believed that in this regard, the car would be a little more economical, and the dynamics would also increase. But is it really so, let's see.

So, as for the dynamics of a Zhiguli with an injection engine, here it is just the opposite. Comparing these two cars, I came to the conclusion that installing the injector on the seven did not lead to anything good, but, on the contrary, added problems to car owners. Oddly enough, a car with an injection engine accelerates much more slowly than with a carburetor. Perhaps if you replace the brains or install a different firmware, then the VAZ 2107 injector will be faster than the carburetor, but so far the carburetor is ahead.

Fuel consumption was also not pleased with the Seven's injection engine. With the same driving style, for 100 km on a carburetor seven, half a liter spent less gasoline than on an injector.

But there can be much more problems with a new engine than with a conventional one. Electronics alone is worth something. Replacing the ECU with zero seventh in the event of a breakdown will cost a considerable amount, and if you completely change the entire injection system, then it is easier to buy a new engine. Two air flow sensors, the replacement of which will cost the owner more than 2000 rubles. If you compare it with a carburetor, then for 2000 you can take a new carburetor. The electric petrol pump also adds to the problems of the fuel injection engine. Now you will not be able to drive until the gasoline runs out, since the pump can burn out if there is less than 5 liters of gasoline in the tank. Of course, this will not happen at one time, but if it repeats periodically, then this is not excluded.

Having driven more than 100 km on each of the cars, I came to the conclusion that the Seven injector is in no way superior to the carburetor model, but, on the contrary, is even inferior to it.

I strongly disagree with the author of the article! Before this I had three cars with carbs, including the “Syomu”, so I also had the opportunity to compare. Absolutely two big differences! Both in terms of fuel consumption and especially in terms of dynamics.

Hello Mike. I would like to say a huge thank you to you. I received my car yesterday and am very pleased with it. True, we haven’t sent it to the service yet, but I don’t even think there’s a need for it. Everything is clean, the cabin is quiet, the engine “whispers”. I recommend your organization to friends and all those who read this. Best regards, Vladimir Smirnov. VW Passat S car.

I have a 1983 carburetor six with the original engine and all the Soviet bells and whistles, and an injection four. Consumption on the highway: VAZ-2106 - 6,7l/100km, VAZ-2104 - 9 liters, in the city - 2106 - 10 liters, VAZ 2104 -13 liters.
