Venturi 300 Atlantique: ICONICARS – Sports Cars

Sporty, clean line and 310 hp twin-turbo engine. The Venturi 300 Atlantique is an exquisite but sadly forgotten sports car.

Venturi today it is a brand committed to protecting the environment: electric vehicles, Formula E, innovative cars; but in the 90s he made sports cars that ran on unleaded gasoline.

Most famous among Venturi is the 300 Atlantique, a compact two-seater compartment with a length of 4,2 meters and a width of 1,84. Presented at the Paris Motor Show in g. 1995, the car was equipped with an engine V6 3,0-liter 24-valve 210 hp power, but in the turbo version it reached i 281 hp.

Strength enough to touch me 280 km / h maximum speed, quite an impressive result. But the problem was not speed, but recovery. One turbine took a long time to "inflate", so the turbo-lag was exaggerated.

However, the car was (and still is) beautiful: some Ferrari 456 and some Lotus Esprit; elegant, sporty, with a neat interior and good maneuverability.

They were only produced 57 cars, between naturally aspirated and turbo versions, including because the owner of the automaker Hubert O'Neill it was more focused on racing than road versions.

Then in 1996 the company was bought by a Thai company, which decided to improve Atlantique to make it more competitive compared to the competition. Porsche and Ferrari.

Il engine was equipped because of the turbine, so the power increased to 310 CV and the turbo lag has been greatly reduced. However, the economic crisis interfered with production plans, so only 13 copies of the Venturi Atlantique biturbo were produced.
