DVR Garmin Tandem. Dual car recorder

DVR Garmin Tandem. Dual car recorder Garmin introduced the Garmin Dash Cam Tandem. This is a car recorder with two lenses that allow you to record what is happening around and inside the car.

The front lens, which records in HD 1440p, is equipped with Garmin Clarity HDR technology and captures a high-quality image of the road situation. By pointing the lens inside the car, you can also shoot in the dark thanks to Garmin's NightGlo technology.

“Dash Cam Tandem allows you to record incredibly clear images inside the car at night, which makes it significantly different from other devices available on the market. With the growing popularity of platforms like Uber and Lyft, documenting what's happening around and inside a vehicle can make a big difference for drivers,” said Dan Barthel, Vice President of Sales at Garmin.

With the Garmin Drive app, drivers can use their phones to easily sync recordings from inside and around the car. If one Dash Cam Tandem camera isn't enough, Garmin offers the Dash Cam Auto Sync feature, which allows you to control up to four devices of this type installed in different locations.

Recording starts when connected to a power source and can be continued even after the driver exits the car in parking monitor mode after motion is detected in the camera's field of view.

Dash Cam Tandem can be controlled by voice in one of 6 languages (English, German, French, Spanish, Italian or Swedish). Built-in GPS automatically locates the vehicle, accurately documenting the location of all traffic events that are automatically detected. With the included microSD card, the device is ready to use right out of the box.

DVR Garmin Tandem. Dual car recorderThis DVR, of course, can be an interesting addition to the equipment of a taxi or other vehicles that provide passenger transportation services. As the prose of everyday life has shown, material recorded in this way can also be important evidence in the event of an attack on a driver. However, this does not change the fact that its use may violate the GDPR Act. Article 2 (2) 119 lit. c GDPR (Journal of Laws L 4.5.2016 of May XNUMX, XNUMX) states: “This provision does not apply to the processing of personal data by … a natural person in the course of purely personal or domestic activities.” A taxi driver or person providing passenger transportation services makes such records in connection with their professional activities, therefore - at least in theory - is excluded from this exception and must report these activities to the Inspector General for the Protection of Personal Data (GIODO). In addition, passengers must be warned in advance about the recording of image and sound.

As you can see, the law does not keep up with technical innovations.

The popularity of the Garmin Dash Cam Tandem may also be affected by the price, which is currently 349,99 euros (about PLN 1470) and probably not the lowest.

It is expected that the recorder will be introduced to the market in the first quarter of this year.
