Nevertheless, IS remains in the shadow of the big German three, but may not even want to leave it. After all, the role in the background suits him, and the Japanese manufacturers seem to like the latter.

The IS 300h test was no different. The first impression was rather vague, but then the OM crawled under the skin. It's clear that the design doesn't stand out in any way (although it got a facelift last year), but the car's structure and, ultimately, the interior is familiar.

It's the same with the engine. The already well-known combination of a gasoline and an electric motor provides a system power of 223 horsepower. The figure is "big" only on paper, but in practice power is lost somewhere. This is definitely pretty much hidden behind the CVT's automatic continuously variable transmission. The latter is still a problem for many drivers, but it depends a lot on the circumstances and on what routes you will use the car. In the end, the test IC was also a good example of how it could be ridden very cheaply and comfortably in city crowds and on country roads. During acceleration, the unsportsmanlike nature of the CVT transmission appears, and only then can the driver stink over it. But of course the drivers are different and some will not have problems with the CVT transmission or on long journeys.

From the changes that have occurred with the last repair, it is necessary to highlight the LED headlights and add some auxiliary safety systems. The 15-speaker Mark Levinson sound system remains well-known and top-notch, and at a price tag of € 1.000, it still remains one of the finest systems imaginable in a car.
