Driver, don't survive the winter
We remind you of a few rules that will facilitate the winter operation of our car.
It is worth taking a supply of low-temperature washer fluid with you into the car, a brush. You should also remember about de-icers for windows and locks.
We must have an anti-freeze mixture in the cooling system.
In winter, it is better not to use the handbrake, especially leaving the car for the whole frosty night. It is much better to park in gear - first or reverse.
In winter it is better to have a full tank. If we have a long, forced stop (in a traffic jam or on a road blocked as a result of an accident), we will be able to warm ourselves at the stop. A full tank will also come in handy when you need to get off the road. Especially in winter, we must take care of the body. In a car wash, choose a program with body drying, as freezing drops of water can damage the paintwork. When you leave the car wash, don't forget to squirt de-icer into the locks and dry the door seals. After several hours of inactivity in the cold, the remains of frozen water can make it impossible to get into the car.

Seal maintenance
It is worth lubricating the rubber seals in the door in advance, before the most frosty days. Tubes with special paste and sprays are on sale. One package should be enough for the whole winter. They prevent the accumulation of water vapor and its freezing. By lubricating the seals from time to time, we should have no problem opening the door.
Cooling system
Be sure to check if there is liquid in the radiator, not water, in winter, especially for people who bought a used car a few months ago. You can choose from foreign coolants, as well as borogo, petrigo, etc. - all at a price of 20 to 40 zł for a five-liter pack. They should not be mixed unless permitted by the package label. There are special liquids for aluminum coolers.
Tires
No need to convince anyone of the benefits of winter tires. Remember that you can not ride on tires with different tread. In extreme cases, you have to install two identical tires on the drive wheels, but replacing the entire set gives the best results. If we use the same tires for several years, it is necessary to check the tread depth - in our country, the rules state that the minimum allowable is 1,6 mm, but this is really too small. In an extreme situation, tires with such a tread are of little use.
battery
At minus 20 degrees Celsius, battery efficiency drops to just over 30 percent. Before winter, it is worth checking the condition of the battery so that you do not have problems starting the engine when the temperature drops. After starting the engine in cold weather, it is better not to turn on all consumers of electricity at once. Heated rear window is the biggest "eater" of energy. If we do not drive for several days and parked in front of the house, we should remove the battery. Buying a battery is an expense, of course, depending on the capacity, from 60 to several hundred zł.

Before driving, check the amount of fluid in the washer reservoir. It is good to fill the container with the same type of liquid, although manufacturers do not exclude mixing some of them. The concentration should be chosen depending on the ambient temperature. A liter package of winter windshield washer fluid costs from 1 to 5 zł, depending on the manufacturer and store. A five-liter container of liquid costs from 6 to 37 zł. It is also worth having wipers with new feathers.

It is worth protecting the door locks from freezing in advance. There are several types of lock de-icers of domestic and foreign production on the market. All of them are sold in small convenient packages. They cost from 2 to 15 zł. They contain substances that lubricate the lock and prevent the mechanism from freezing.
Glass
To clean frozen windows, experts advise using de-icers that do not scratch the surface, although popular scrapers are also effective. Chemical aerosol de-icers are available at car shops and petrol stations at prices ranging from PLN 5 to PLN 27. They also prevent frost from accumulating on windows on frosty nights.
