Volkswagen Golf Alltrack 2.0 TDI BMT 4Motion

Golf, of course, is no exception: four-wheel drive is about two thousandths more expensive, and consumption is also a few deciliters higher. But for some clients, these two drawbacks do not show up. Some people really need four-wheel drive, others appreciate its benefits in poor driving conditions enough to pay for it, even though they may never need it.

And if you're looking for a mid-range all-wheel-drive station wagon, the Golf Variant is at the top of the list of possible candidates - unless, of course, you're looking for an all-wheel drive combo. drive and automatic. In this case, you'll have to look under the Alltrack label, as the classic Golf Variant doesn't have this combination. All track? Of course, the “slightly more off-road” version of the Golf with 4Motion all-wheel drive.

The essence of Alltrack is, of course, a slightly larger (by 2 centimeters) distance of the car’s belly from the ground, which on asphalt does not cause a noticeably worse position on the road or excessive body tilt, but still familiar on rubble. and caterpillars for carts. Where the Golf Variant plows the ground with a swipe of its nose, the Alltrack is no objection. It even feels more on the more or less beautiful rubble, where the 184-horsepower diesel engine (the only one available in combination with a dual-clutch transmission) requires a bit rougher cornering - as far as the not-fully-switchable ESP goes. allows. The 4Motion all-wheel drive has an XDS electronic differential lock because it is the most powerful Golf Alltrack.

Thanks to the powerful engine, the Golf Alltrack is of course very sovereign even on the highway, where it perfectly hides its more off-road chassis and is a good choice for long distances thanks to its combination of engine, transmission and a comfortable interior. ... We would have liked to see more safety accessories included as standard (at least no blind spot monitoring system), but unfortunately they will have to go through the list of optional equipment.

Otherwise, the equipment is quite rich: air conditioning, rain sensor, parking assistance system, cruise control, bluetooth, 16 cm color LCS screen, touchscreen, to control the infotainment system… There is a cabin, with a Few details, especially the Alltrack lettering. quite classic, but the consumption is almost the same: on a standard lap, he stopped at around five liters, which is very acceptable considering the engine size and all-wheel drive. The price is getting higher: 31k for the base model (a test Alltrack would cost 35k, but the only serious item on the list that I would note are bi-xenon headlights) is no small amount. Therefore, what we wrote at the beginning applies: such a machine is for those who know why they need it.

  • This Golf is not for everyone, but those who want such a car will be able to impress. You will have to pay a lot for protective equipment alone.
