Volkswagen to officially end Golf production in the US

In 2022, you'll only have the option to buy the Golf GTI and R, which are more expensive but offer a little more than that.

Yesterday a German car manufacturer, Volkswagen (Volkswagen) andannounced yesterday that it was ending production of the Golf for the US market last week..

Even though this VW model is a sales success in most of the countries where it is sold, it is not available in the United States and this was one of the most important reasons.

However, golf won't disappear completely, it will continue into 2022 with the releases of the GTI and Golf R.

"For four decades, the Golf has been of great value to American drivers." “This is an example of what Volkswagen does best: combining dynamic driving performance with purposeful layout and unsurpassed quality. While the seventh generation Golf will be the last base hatchback sold here, the GTI and Golf R will continue its legacy.”

Golf in the history of the manufacturer is a European bestseller and one of the best-selling models in history, it retains the basic appearance of the previous generation, but changes the design of the headlights.

In 2019, there were already rumors that Volkswagen would bring the base Golf out of the US. It does not sell as well as the Golf GTI and is not trusted by all-wheel drive Golf R enthusiasts. Also, it is neither a crossover nor an SUV, so its market appeal is declining as these vehicles reduce sales of sedans and hatchbacks. However, according to VW, more than 2.5 million American buyers have bought the Golf since its introduction in December 1974.

So in 2022, you will only have the option to buy the Golf GTI and R, which are more expensive but offer a little more than that.
