The Volkswagen Passat Alltrack is a car with excellent finishes and all the necessary amenities thanks to the already complete standard equipment. However, its greater ability to cope with rough roads slightly affects the space and driving performance of the excellent Passat Variant.

La Passat Everything Rack Aesthetically, it differs from the Variant in a more crossover spirit, characterized by reinforced underbody and wheel arches with plastic frames. It's also 3cm taller and 1cm long, although the 639L trunk is 14L smaller than the sister station. However, it remains one of the most spacious and practical vehicles in its class. There is plenty of room for front and rear passengers (even if only 4 people are comfortable), and the trunk is really deep. Build quality is top notch, several steps higher golf, alltrack it is only available with the 2.0 TDi with 150, 190 and 240 hp, manual transmission for the first engine, DSG machine for the other two; all have four-wheel drive 4Motion.

We tested the 190 hp version. with DSG gearbox.

city

La Passat Everything Rack it is a really long car (4cm longer than the Audi A4), and parking in the city is tricky, but its limitations on traffic end with its size. Front visibility is good, a little less behind, even if there are no problems with the parking sensors (standard). As always, the six-speed DSG automatic transmission is flawless, shifting gears with such gentleness that acceleration is almost never interrupted. The shock absorbers, softer than the Variant version, guarantee good comfort on hatches and bumps, while fuel consumption is slightly higher: in the city, the manufacturer claims an average of 6,1 l / 100 km.

Outside the city

La Volkswagen Passat Alltrack it rides well, retaining the typical VW feel, characterized by precise and light steering (even if slightly anesthetized) and pleasant tactile coherence of all controls.

La high altitude off the ground and the extra pounds make the Passat Alltrack less dynamic and harsh than the Variant version on twisty roads, making it less fun to drive.

Il engine it has brilliant response - thanks to the use of small, low-inertia turbines - and pushes with firmness and linearity, but it also dies very quickly. In fact, at 3.7000 rpm the game ends, but the 400 Nm of torque always provides a good starting point. IN Driving profile allows you to select different driving modes that affect the steering, accelerator, engine, gearbox and air conditioning. Excellent is the ECO mode with the swim function, which allows you to significantly reduce fuel consumption, but if you want you can also choose the more reactive "normal" and finally "sport" and "individual", the latter is customizable as desired.

An off-road mode is also available in Alltrack, which optimizes the response of the accelerator, brakes, ABS and Esp to provide better traction on low-grip surfaces. Electronically controlled all-wheel drive system 4Motion works well even if the height of the car doesn't allow it to handle real off-road conditions, but for most of the rough terrain this is fine.

шосе

The Volkswagen Passat Alltrack is a car that can easily cover hundreds of miles, getting you from point A to point B fresh and rested. The seat is comfortable, and aerodynamic rustles and rolling noises are minimal. Also in this case, the Alltrack version consumes a little more than its "little" sister, but still doesn't feel particularly thirsty.

Life on board

Strong side Passat Undoubtedly, this is a combination of space and quality. The dashboard design is modern and clean, always in the style of Volkswagen, but in this case there is also an additional touch of style that makes the interior truly successful. From this point of view, the German company maintains a very high level of perceived quality, with first-class builds, materials and finishes. The digital instrument cluster is also very good, it consists of a high-resolution screen that can be customized as you wish.

Lo seat on board It is comfortable for both those in the front and those in the back, with ample room for both legs and head. The 639-liter boot is 14 liters smaller than the Variant, but remains one of the best in the segment in terms of cargo capacity and accessibility.

Theequipment It has everything you need as standard, such as electrically adjustable seats, three-zone climate, 8-speaker radio infotainment system, Driving Profile system, automatic emergency braking and adaptive cruise control. Our version is equipped with a 2.0 TDI engine with 190 hp, which together with 150 hp. will be the best selling engine. Excellent throttle travel and responsiveness as well as fuel consumption considering the 1700kg weight and all-wheel drive.

Price and costs

La Volkswagen Passat Alltrack 2.0 TDI 190 hp and with change DSG costs 43.750 euros. There are quite a few of them, especially when you consider that for a few thousand euros less you can take home a Passat (not an Alltrack), which is better in almost all situations. Almost, because the off-road capabilities of this model can be useful for those who have a house in the mountains, or those who overcome winding paths. But the truth is that the Alltrack is a more luxurious and exclusive version, so the price is partly justified by the image of the car. Consumption, on the contrary, is quite decent: Volkswagen claims 5,2 l / 100 km in the combined cycle.

safety

The car is always safe and stable, even with a sharp change in direction. The automatic landslide works well and the all-wheel drive provides better traction, even on slippery surfaces.
