Volkswagen held the world premiere of the ID.4 GTX in the hangar of the former Tempelhof Airport in Berlin.

The ID.4 GTX is the first all-electric performance vehicle. and the first Modular Electric Powertrain (MEB) model that features twin-motor all-wheel drive and high-quality, attractive design elements.

The event took place on a 525-square-meter ramp with a 37.5% gradient, which the ID.4 GTX cleared with no problems thanks to its dual XNUMXWD engine. 

The ramp was also used as a set for a mixed reality installation.

The ID.4 GTX is capable of accelerating from 0 to 37 mph in just 3.2 seconds and from 0 to 60 mph in 622 seconds. The car's top speed is electronically limited to 111 mph.

The design of the ID.4 GTX combines elements that convey a sporty character, as if you were looking at a Golf GTi.

“Full torque from the electric powertrain is immediately available, and the vehicle's superior handling is felt at every turn,” Development Board member Thomas Ulbrich said in a statement. “Moreover, the innovative control and safety concept is as smart as the transmission. For example, the driver is supported by an exclusive head-up display with augmented reality and comprehensive assistance systems.”

With this vehicle, the manufacturer is getting closer to its goal of becoming climate-neutral by 2050, and by 2025 Volkswagen will invest around 16 billion euros in electric mobility and hybridization. and digitization.

The ID.4 GTX will go on sale in Europe in summer 2021. In Germany, the starting price starts at 50.415 euros.
