Volvo recalls 85,550 vehicles in the US due to fuel pump fuse problems

The manufacturer will begin receiving notifications from Volvo from August 1, and owners can also visit the NHTSA recall website to get more information and see if their car is included.

Volvo removes almost all of its models from US roadsc, including models S60, S90, V60, V60 Ski, B90, B90 Ski, HS60 and HS90, which adds up to nearly 85,550 vehicles in the US market.

The recall on all of these vehicles is to replace the fuse, which could cause problems with the fuel pump and possibly stop the engine.

Thus, the only vehicle excluded from the recall is .

that this problem occurred in 46 vehicles. The agency said drivers may experience a problem immediately after waking up the car, such as unlocking it, opening a door, or depressing the brake pedal before starting to drive, saying a fuse can blow when the ECM "needs" a fuel delivery module. (FDM) shutdown due to electrical surges. If the fuse blows, the low pressure fuel pump will obviously stop working, which may prevent the engine from starting. However, plug-in hybrid models can safely stop or continue driving as long as the battery is charged.

Volvo also explains in the report that its quality studies found that there may be a risk of a 15A fuse blown for the low pressure fuel pump. This was initially identified at the factory when filling the fuel system with gasoline, and in some cases after being sold on the market.

Despite the fact that we have heard many times that this should not be done, the solution to this problem is to replace the fuse with a larger one. In this case, the remedy is replacing the 15 amp fuse with a 20 amp fuse, which Volvo started doing on the production line at the end of 2019.

Volvo has not yet received any reports of injuries or accidents related to this issue.

Owners can check the NHTSA recall website for more information and to see if their vehicle is included. The manufacturer will start receiving notifications from Volvo from 1 August.
