All future Audi RSs will be hybrids only

Audi Sport will only offer one powertrain for the RS models it develops, and customers will not be able to choose between a hybrid powertrain or a clean combustion engine.

For example, the Volkswagen brand offers the new Golf in GTI and GTE variants, and in both cases the output is 245 hp. In the first option, the customer receives a 2,0-liter petrol turbo engine, and in the second - a hybrid system. However, this will no longer be the case with the Audi RS models.

Currently, the only electrified vehicle in the Audi Sport lineup is the RS6, which uses a combination of an internal combustion engine and a 48-volt starter motor (mild hybrid). In the coming years, this technology will be implemented in other RS-models of the company. The first of these will be the new RS4 due in 2023.

“We want to make the task as easy as possible for the client. We will have a car with one engine. It makes no sense to have different options,” –
Michelle is categorical.

A top manager described Audi Sport's approach to electrification as a step-by-step approach. The idea is that vehicles with RS in the name are suitable for everyday use. This symbol will gradually transition to all-electric sports models.
