Everything you need to know about motorcycle heating blankets

Completely optional for road users, electric motorcycle blankets necessary if you are driving on the highway. It is strongly not recommended to run the motorcycle at full speed unless the tires have been prepared for this. The risks apply not only to tires, which will be damaged very quickly, but also to the rider who can fall victim to a fatal fall.

Electric blankets were made for just that. What is it ? What's the point ? Find out everything you need to know about motorcycle heating blankets.

Motorcycle Heated Blankets: Why?

Track tires are very different from road tires. While the latter can indeed withstand very large fluctuations in temperature, those used in the chain are much more fragile, especially if they come into contact with cold. Therefore, it is necessary to warm them up before the race.

Heated blankets for motorcycles - a safety issue

The use of electric blankets is primarily a safety issue. Tire grip is only effectively ensured if they are not heated to the desired temperature. Otherwise, the grip will not be enough and the risk of falling will be especially great.

This is why it is highly recommended, even mandatory, heat the rubber tires in the tire heaters at least an hour before the motorcycle starts on the track... This is the best way to ensure optimal traction and thus avoid accidents.

Heated blankets, uptime guarantee

For tires to perform well on asphalt, they must be set to the correct pressure, that is, the pressure recommended by the manufacturer. If the pressure is really too high, or vice versa, if it is not enough, the tires will suffer, deform and will not provide optimal performance.

Taking the time to warm up your tires before driving on the track will solve any possible pressure issues. The temperature will heat up the air contained in the tires, help balance the situation and increase the pressure if it fails.

How does a motorcycle heating blanket work?

The heating blanket contains resistance. It goes right through it so that it can heat the entire tire covered. To use it correctly, all you have to do is remove the tires and plug the blanket into a power source.

How it works ? Please note that there are two types of motorcycle heating blankets on the market:

Programmable Electric Blankets

Programmable electric blankets, as the name suggests, can be programmed. They are equipped with a digital block that allows the user to independently select the desired temperature depending on the needs: tire pressure, outside temperature, etc.

Self adjusting electric blankets

Self-adjusting electric blankets, unlike programmable ones, cannot be adjusted to the desired temperature. They usually offer a fixed temperature between 60 ° C and 80 ° C and cannot be lowered or raised.
