Everyone wants: why SUVs are so popular

SUVs have conquered the American market due to their spaciousness, fuel efficiency and reliability.

It's no secret that the popularity of SUVs has come to monopolize a market previously owned by other types of vehicles.

In 2019 alone, crossovers of this type were sold twice as many as sedans, the article says. This means that in the same year, SUVs accounted for 47.4% of all U.S. car sales, while sedans accounted for less than 30%.

As you can imagine, the SUV fever has not stopped since then. In fact, many automakers have announced they will be phasing out their trusty sedan models in order to focus on building new and improved SUVs.

But what makes this type of car so popular that it's not a pickup truck or a sedan, but rather a combination of both? Light! SUVs or crossovers offer the best driving experience in just about everything: safety, space, comfort, efficiency, and even technology.

There are many more reasons why these cars have become so popular, but here are some of the main ones:

1. Consumers find SUVs safer than sedans.

Let's face it, SUVs are taller and heavier than sedans, which in turn makes passengers feel more secure. On top of that, the SUV's higher ground clearance gives the driver a much better view of the road ahead, making it easier to negotiate traffic jams or other obstacles on or off the road. And while higher ground clearance and more sheet metal might make everyone feel more confident, it's the extra driver-assistance and airbag features that are the icing on the cake.

2. More cargo space

Most midsize SUVs are larger than any sedan, so they have more cargo capacity and flexibility.

3.- Best value proposition

SUVs can generally be more expensive than their sedan counterparts, but the temptation to get more for your money tends to pay off in the long run.

4.- More passengers

More passenger space is one of the main reasons families choose SUVs.

SUVs conquered the US market due to the large space, fuel efficiency and reliability, as well as the high level of safety that its designs provide for families, as explained
