But at a recent spring historic gathering, the woman was honored in an Australian special. Newcastle's Brenda Hunter took the win by driving her 1958 Lasos Holden around the track.
Ian Motley of Adelaide finished second in the Australian special regularity. He was happy to be back on the track after the crash earlier this year.
Motley drove his 1958 Austin 7 in April at Turn XNUMX at Mullal - and earned a Flip Certificate for his efforts - but he was thrilled to be back to compete.
“Running this beauty around the track is a real pleasure,” says Motley.
The oldest car in the Australian special field rankings was Noel Wilcox's special 1932 Cardwell 7 Austin.
Terry White's 1947 MGTC Special was the oldest of the MG collections. The 1947 MGTC was driving from Victoria, parked inside White's Ford Transit, towing his friend Chris Farrell's special 1949 MGTC.
While Aussie Specials were the main attraction at the spring meeting, the stock Touring cars showed a lot of interesting stuff.
In Group N, Philippa Woodbury's 1971 Mazda RX2 broke an Apex seal in practice runs, causing him to return home early for the weekend.
Although Joe Dominello's 1963 Austin Cooper S was blown off course in Race 1 with throttle problems, he managed to get his car back on the track for the last race of the day.
