Meet the Chinese Ford F-150! The Foton Big General may be the best (or worst) fake.

Foton Big General looks very familiar.

If you're tired of waiting for Ford to launch a right-hand drive version of the iconic F-150 in Australia, there may be a solution a little closer to home: Chinese brand Foton is launching its own giant truck that, to be honest, looks more than familiar.

Although it is actually about the size of a Ford Ranger or Toyota HiLux, its styling is clearly borrowed from a larger American truck with the Foton Big General or Da Jiang Jun, a replica of the American symbol.

It will make its full debut at the Beijing Auto Show later this month, but details have begun to surface about what to expect from the Big General.

For starters, Foton will offer three engines, including a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged petrol, a 2.0-liter diesel and a 2.5-liter diesel. You'll also get an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission and the expected all-wheel drive.

Big General has almost no chance of ever making it to Australia, but it shows that the art of imitation is thriving with some Chinese manufacturers.
