The bushing is rotated - the most serious engine malfunction

Bushings are important elements of any engine. If they fail, the bike must be overhauled or replaced with a new one.

The engine crank system is supported by sleeve bearings. Shaft journals are surrounded by bushings. The design of the bushings is not complicated. These are semi-circular alloy plates with an appropriate hardness, which can be provided with channels and holes to ensure optimal lubrication of the rotating elements.

Bushings are subject to natural wear. Proper construction, the right materials, proper operation and proper maintenance result in hundreds of thousands if not millions of miles.

Life doesn't always write equally good scripts. Bushings, despite the simplicity of design, are prone to damage. It is enough to postpone the oil change date or not check its condition - used oil or too little of it can significantly accelerate the wear rate of the bushings.

They also do not force the engine to be forced. The problem is not limited to abuse of high speeds or long driving on the highway with the gas pedal to the floor. Excessive loading of a cold engine or attempts to accelerate from low revs in high gears are equally harmful - the crankshaft and connecting rod bearings are subjected to enormous loads.

Panevkom can also affect extensive engine tuning. Standard bushings may not be able to withstand the increased torque load. Of course, in the catalogs of specialized companies, you can easily find bushings adapted to transmit high forces.

The rotation of the sleeve can be caused by too much play or loss of lubrication and a sharp increase in friction at the interface between the sleeve and the shaft. Acetabular problems are usually the tip of the iceberg. After dismantling the engine, it often turns out that the crankshaft is bent. In extreme cases, the powertrain unit may be damaged. In the case of popular multi-year cars, a complete engine overhaul is usually overlooked - buying a used engine is much more financially beneficial.

Some engines are known for their rotating connecting rod liners. This includes the 1.5 dCi and 1.9 dCi of the Renault-Nissan alliance, Fiat and Lancia 1.8 16V, Alfa Romeo 1.8 and 2.0 TS or the BMW M43 unit.

An accurate diagnosis of the condition of the bearings is impossible without disassembling the engine. The approach of the beginning of the end portends the appearance of metal filings in the engine oil. They are easiest to pick up when changing the oil. They can also be found on the surface of the oil filter. A loud metallic clatter when the engine load changes may indicate large bushings.
