Motorsport - what is their classification?

The International Motorcycle Federation divides motorcycle racing into five different categories. Participants usually specialize in only one competition. It:

  • road racing, i.e. races taking place on the streets and roads;
  • motocross, i.e. competitions held on dirt slides;
  • enduro, or endurance racing;
  • track racing, i.e. speedway. Passes on specially prepared tracks;
  • track, during which players have to overcome various obstacles.

It cannot be denied that the most popular motorsport in our country is track racing. However, amateurs are increasingly involved in motocross, which allows you to spend time in the fresh air and gives you an adrenaline rush.

Motorcycle racing - meet the most famous

Notable motorcycle races include the Dakar and the Northwest 200. The first includes racing through the desert. Participants can choose from four different types of vehicles. The rally first of all tests the endurance of the participants. About 60 people are reported to have died in it so far, including several participants. Poles regularly take part in it. The North West 200 race takes place in Northern Ireland. It is considered dangerous, as the route is full of various obstacles. Vehicles reach speeds of up to 350 km/h and participants must demonstrate their skills at the highest level.

Motor rallies - only one Pole participated in them!

While it's nice to see our compatriots competing all over the world, not all auto racing has a Polish presence. For example, only one Pole participated in the TT on the Isle of Man. These races have been held since 1907. They are among the most controversial due to numerous deaths. For more than 100 years, the death toll has totaled more than 240 people. Despite this, the most talented athletes still want to take part in it, both for the prize and for the adrenaline itself. The only Pole who took part in this competition was Blazey Betley. These motorcycle races allow you to reach speeds of over 320 km/h!

The famous TT motorcycle race on the Isle of Man

Hunter racing is actually immediately associated with the TT on the Isle of Man, which is considered the most dangerous in the world. The cars that compete are usually light but very agile and fast two-wheelers. Among them, you can find cars such as the Ducati Panigale V4 with a capacity of 214 hp. Some specimens reach over 300 hp! The weight of motorcycles in races on the Isle of Man does not exceed 200 kg.

The most important motorcycle competitions in our country

Motorcycle competitions in our country are also quite popular. It is worth mentioning the Polish Cup in the classics. It takes place in stages and is held in several different Polish cities. Interestingly, the first speedway competition to be recognized as the Polish championship was an individual competition. They took place in 1932 in Myslovitsy. To this day, one of the most important competitions in this area is the Individual Speedway Championship of Poland. These motorcycle races take place in different Polish cities. In 2018-2021 they were organized in Leszno.

Street motorcycle racing is not held in our country

Interestingly, there are no legal street motorcycle races in our country at all. Although in the Czech Republic you can already find TT races, despite the good conditions, in our country you can’t count on it. Why? Such motorcycle races are usually especially dangerous. Fans of this sport hope that they can finally be organized.

Illegal motorcycle racing in our country

Although street racing is not official, this does not mean that they do not exist at all. After all, this is a business! Therefore, illegal motorcycle racing sometimes happens in our country. There are even (un)official classifications. Such competitions usually take place under the cover of night, on almost empty roads. And although the police sometimes report issuing fines, this does not stop the organizers from further competitions of this type. However, you should not take risks by participating in such events - this way you can easily lose not only your driver's license.

Race bikes to keep in mind - meet the fastest!

Which race bikes are the best in competition? While driver skill is not unimportant, the competition also requires the very best equipment. Motorcycle racing gathers a real elite among the latest models. One of the fastest in the world is the Kawasaki ZX 12R. It develops speeds up to 315 km / h, and its power is 190 hp. Produced in 2000-2006, he forever remained in the memory of motorists. Another fast bike is the BMW S 1000 RR. Cars of this series have been continuously created since 2009.
