You can conduct a pre-holiday inspection of the car yourself

You can conduct a pre-holiday inspection of the car yourself Three-quarters of Poles planning a holiday in Poland will go there by car. According to a study by Mondial Assistance, every third tourist will travel abroad in their own car. Experts advise before a long trip to check the health of your car. A car that undergoes regular inspections must be in good technical condition, and any shortcomings that have arisen as a result of its operation can be detected by yourself by conducting a basic inspection of the car.

You can conduct a pre-holiday inspection of the car yourselfLet's start by checking the tires. Pay attention to the condition of the rubber, if it is not cracked or worn, what is the tread depth. Pressure gaps need to be filled, and if we haven't replaced the tires with summer tires yet, we'll do it now. Thanks to this, we will reduce fuel consumption and protect tires from excessive wear, advises MSc. Marcin Kielczewski, Product Manager Bosch.

Experts emphasize that you should pay attention to the condition of the brake system, especially pads and discs. The decision to replace them should be prompted by traces of cracks or excessive wear of components. Brake discs must not be rusty or scratched. Another cause for concern is leaks or heavy moisture in the hydraulic component.

“An important element is also the synchronization system, which controls the entire engine,” Marcin Kielczewski tells Newseria. – Vehicle manufacturers indicate the maximum service life after which it must be replaced. A broken timing belt is a serious problem, usually resulting in the need for an engine overhaul. So before leaving, it is better to check whether the timing units should be replaced. It is enough to check the mileage instructions, after which the manufacturer recommends it.

Before you hit the road, it is also worth taking some time to check the air conditioner - the cabin air filter and the temperature in the deflectors, as well as the headlights and lanterns of the car. It's best to replace your headlight bulbs in pairs to prevent them from burning out again in the near future.

– In many countries it is mandatory to have a complete set of spare bulbs in the car, says Marcin Kielczewski. So let's check the current rules in the place where we are going to avoid costly surprises in the form of a ticket.

You can also check and possibly top up the level of all fluids: brake, coolant, washer fluid and engine oil.

“Today, more intervention in the engine or components of the car is difficult, cars are becoming more technically advanced, and the average driver has limited ability to independently make repairs. However, it is worth paying attention to all the alarming symptoms, knocking, knocking or unusual sounds, especially before going on vacation, and make sure that the mechanic pays attention to them during the visit to the service, advises Marcin Kielczewski.
