Traveling by car for a long weekend comes with great comfort, but also with the risk of unpleasant surprises such as traffic jams, collisions or fines. So it is better to prepare in advance for such situations so that the trip goes smoothly and without problems.
The dark side of the picnic
The statistics are relentless. During the May weekend of last year (27.04 April - 06.05.2012 May 938) there were 1218 accidents, in which 65 people were injured and 2012 people died. The data collected by the police show that, paradoxically, the vast majority of accidents occur in good weather conditions. Then drivers feel more confident on the road, experience greater driving comfort and break the rules more often. In just 23 years, there have been almost 300 accidents under such conditions.

May weekends are also conducive to rest associated with alcohol consumption. And yet, not everyone realizes the tragic consequences of driving after windows, as evidenced by the number of drunk drivers stopped by traffic police during last year's picnic. Then 5201 drivers were caught in a state of intoxication. It should be remembered that even a small amount of it significantly reduces perceptual capabilities. Drunk drivers face fines, driver's license confiscation and even jail time if they cause an accident.

May weekend with fines?
Traditionally, as every year, on the occasion of the May weekend, the police intensify their activities in the field of road checks. A study based on analysis of data from Janosik devices shows that the number of checks increases by about 11 percent during the May weekend. As a standard, during such a check, employees check the sobriety of drivers, the fastening of seat belts and the technical condition of the car.
Ready for a picnic
Before leaving, you should pay attention to the equipment of your car and whether it contains things that are required by law and those that may be useful to us in the event of a breakdown. It is also good to provide a car first-aid kit, which is not mandatory in Poland, but you never know when it will be useful. Drivers going on a picnic should get behind the wheel well rested and check the technical condition of their car before leaving so as not to encounter unpleasant surprises along the way.

And if we also take our pet on a picnic, then it is useful to know what conditions must be met for a safe trip.
