File material selection

	In some cases, the type of material you will be hemming will help you decide which file to use.
	Soft materials such as aluminium, brass, lead, plastic and wood may require a special file or rasp. Very hard materials may also require a special file. For more information on how hardness is related to filing see: What is hardness?
	Below are suggestions on which files to use for specific materials.
	Aluminum or soft metals such as copper Aluminium, millenicut and vixen files
	Ceramic or glass Diamond Files
	Hardened steel Diamond Files
	hot metal Rasps
	Iron, steel or hard metals such as titanium Any file (avoid rasps)
	NEWS Lead floating files
	plastic Rasps
	Tree Japanese files and rasps
