The decisive new Mazda CX-60 has appeared on the net, long before its official introduction, lifting the lid on one of the Japanese brand's most important models of 2022.

Shown on CSK Review Channel on YouTubeThe CX-60 is part of Mazda's new SUV onslaught that was announced earlier this year and is expected to be the first model on the new platform to hit local showrooms sometime in the next 12 months.

Other models announced as part of the crossover expansion include the CX-70, CX-80 and CX-90, two of which will also be sold in Australia in the future, while the just-revealed CX-50 will only be sold in the US. market.

While the exact dimensions have yet to be revealed, the CX-60's profile also appears to be longer compared to the CX-5 and CX-50, hinting at its position in Mazda's SUV lineup.

As expected, the CX-60 has confident and mature styling that pushes Mazda towards the premium market segment with small details like body-coloured wheel arches and an extended wheelbase.

The front fender also features a vent-like design, though it's not yet clear if it's functional or just cosmetic.

What you can see in the video, however, is the new CX-60 front end design, which features larger headlights, a smaller front grille, and a bulging hood compared to the CX-5 and CX-50 midsize SUVs.

It is important to note that the hood looks much longer compared to the body as it was designed for Mazda's newly developed petrol and diesel inline-six engines.

Both powertrains are tuned for more power, although details are yet to be revealed, while a 48-volt mild hybrid system should also reduce fuel consumption.

There are rumors that a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) version will also appear on the cards for the CX-60 or its larger siblings, but again, details are being kept under wraps for now.

In addition to the white car seen, a red version can also be seen.

However, the red car is distinguished by darkened exterior trim pieces around the grille and side mirrors, possibly indicating a sportier variant.

Mazda is expected to officially unveil the CX-60 before the end of the year, with a showroom at the Australian Motor Show sometime in 2022.
