"Weekend without victims" - the action of the GDDKiA and the police
The Directorate General of National Roads and Motorways, together with the police and a number of other partners, have launched an action aimed at reducing the number of accidents on Polish roads.
The aim of the campaign is also to increase the knowledge of drivers and pedestrians about safety. Therefore, picnics and first aid trainings will be held in several cities. On average, 45 people die on Polish roads during the holiday weekend.
As in the case of last year's promotion, after sending a text message to 71551 (cost PLN 1 + VAT), the subscriber will receive all information about the traffic situation in the selected provinces in a reply message. They will deal with difficulties on national roads, and on June 24-26, information on the weather forecast and planned detours will be available.

During picnics, which will take place, among other things, in Inowroclaw, Warsaw, Rzeszow, Katowice and Wroclaw, it will be possible to learn first aid, and on accident simulators to check how the human body behaves in a collision with a car traveling at a speed of 30 km per hour , and when rolling the car over.
However, the organizers of the campaign are aware that improving safety on Polish roads is a complex problem, which, of course, cannot be solved in one campaign. “It won't be done in an instant. Safety is made up of road infrastructure, an effective system of medical care and the behavior of the drivers themselves. All this requires preparation and many years of work, but we are on the right track,” Andrzej Maciejewski, Vice President of GDDKiA, said in an interview with Gazeta Prawna.
On the campaign website www.weekendbezofiar.pl we can also find a lot of valuable information about the rules of safe driving. “We understand the importance of pointing out mistakes and promoting good behaviour, especially among drivers. That is why the action is accompanied by an information and educational campaign,” Macheevsky said. The success of this action must be ensured by all road users who follow the rules of safe driving.
