Wi-Bike: Piaggio unveils its 2016 electric bike lineup at EICMA

On the occasion of Milan's Eicma show, Piaggio is unveiling Piaggio Wi-Bike in detail, its upcoming range of electric bicycles, which will be available in 4 models.

Equipped with a 250W 50Nm central motor and a Samsung 418Wh lithium battery, Piaggio's new line of e-bikes offers three range levels (Eco, Tour and Power) for an electric range of 60 to 120 kilometers from here.

Overall, the manufacturer is relying on connectivity to stand out from the competition by launching a dedicated app linked to major social networks, offering the user the ability to calibrate their assistance and record their travels via a Bluetooth connection.

Five options are offered

In terms of products, Piaggio's electric bike lineup consists of two models: Comfort and Active.

In the Comfort range, the Piaggio Wi-bike is available in three city-specific variants:

  • Unisex comfort with Shimano Deore 9 speeds and 28-inch rims
  • Comfort Plus, male frame model with Nuvinci switch
  • Comfort Plus Unisex which has the same characteristics as the previous model, but with a feminine frame.

More versatile and only available as a men's frame, the Active series comes in two options:

  • Active with Nuvinci system, mono-shock fork and Shimano hydraulic disc brake
  • Active Plus which differs from the Active in some aesthetic elements: brushed metal aluminum frame, red rims, etc.

Launch in 2016

Piaggio Wi-Bike e-bikes will go on sale in 2016. Their price has not yet been disclosed.
