Engineer units are an integral part of any armed forces. In times of war, they operate on the front lines, ensuring the right pace of action, in peacetime they help the civilian population in natural disasters or eliminate the consequences of hostilities (for example, clearing the territory of unexploded bombs and misfires). For this reason, the equipment of such units is very important. In Poland, Wojskowe Zakłady Inżynieryjne SA from Dęblin, which is uniquely positioned in this respect within the Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa SA, is responsible for updating, modernizing and modifying such equipment.

W ojskowe Zakłady Inżynieryjne SA from Deblin originates from the Military Repair Plant, which was established on the basis of a decision of the Minister of National Defense of December 24, 1958. An important date in the history of the plant was October 8, 1964. when another solution

The Minister of National Defense transformed it into an enterprise called Wojskowe Zakłady Usługcze - Dęblin. Even then, the Demblinsky plant specialized in the repair and overhaul of sapper and engineering equipment, and their rank was emphasized by their subordination to the head of the engineering troops of the Ministry of National Defense. This was reflected in another decision of the Ministry of Defense, when on 15 April 1982 the Deblin plant was renamed Wojskowe Zakłady Inżynieryjne (WZInż), which is still in effect today. As part of WZInż's adaptation to the current economic realities, on January 1, 2008, the factories were commercialized, transforming them into a company with the sole shareholder of the State Treasury, i.e. in Wojskowe Zakłady Inżynieryjne WZInż SA, whose President and CEO is Bernard Sciechowski today. On May 29, 2014, Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa SA became the full owner of Wojskowe Zakłady Inżynieryjne SA, in which WZInż was included as part of the consolidation of the arms industry owned by the State Treasury.

This brief historical overview is the starting point for presenting the current activity profile of Wojskowe Zakłady Inżynieryjnych SA, which, taking into account all the offer and competencies concentrated in PGZ SA, offer some unique products and services on the scale of the Polish defense. industry. The scope of their application is much wider than just the production, repair, modernization or modification of engineering and sapper equipment, indicated in the introduction. They concern

these are specialized vehicles with a wide range of applications, all types of tracked vehicles, engines for the above vehicles, units and components for the above equipment, a wide range of military and civilian containers and specialized container structures, metal structures and other welded structures. WZInż SA also operates on the civilian market, but currently only a few percent of the turnover and processing capacity, most of which belongs to the military industry.

It should be noted that an important asset of Wojskowe Zakłady Inżynieryjne SA is its own technology and construction office with qualified engineering staff. Thanks to this, WZInż SA is also able to carry out design work and thus make improvements and optimizing modifications to vehicles and devices produced and repaired. This increases the attractiveness of the Company as an industrial partner in the case of more complex modernization programs, including the introduction of new types of vehicles and other equipment into production and operation in the Polish Armed Forces. This is important in the current model of PGZ SA, which, in order to effectively and economically fulfill its tasks in the field of modernization of the Polish Armed Forces, must make full use of the experience and potential of specialists, as well as the equipment of its companies. In the case of Wojskowe Zakłady Inżynieryjne SA, their capabilities were presented in more detail in the context of production, repair and maintenance.
