The Xpeng G3 is good value for money, but noisy inside. Almost like the older Tesla Model 3 LR [video]

Bjorn Nyland checked the noise levels inside the Xpeng G3, a Chinese crossover that is slated to be sold in Norway later this year. The car was louder than most EVs tested, with only A-segment cars, a cargo van and the older Tesla Model 3 Long Range AWD performing worse.

Xpeng G3 and cabin noise compared to other EVs

The tests of Bjorn Nyland are so valuable that they are carried out on the same section of the road and in similar conditions at a speed of 80/100/120 km / h. XPeng G3 in these measurements he received respectively 66,1 / 68,5 / 71,5 / (average) 68,7 decibels, during old version Tesli Model 3 with four-wheel drive reached 67,8 / 70,7 / 72 / (average) 70,2 dB... The Chinese crossover showed itself on summer tires very similar to the Kia e-Soul.

For comparison, the reviewer pays attention to the type of tires: winters are milder, so in general it will be quieter – and the tested Xpeng G3 was equipped with summer tires. In addition, the variant that will be sold in Norway will be equipped with completely different tires from the American brand Cooper, further complicating the situation.

Not to mention that Norwegian road surfaces are louder than the smooth asphalt used in many other European countries., including in Poland.

Aside from the noise from the wheels and the road, Nyland also noticed wind noise that he would hardly have heard in a Leaf or e-Golf. He did not design the threads, but suggests there might be some suitable € 4 gasket that will fix at least some of the noise issues inside the Chinese electrician.

In terms of quietness in the cabin, the premium cars, the Audi e-tron and the Mercedes EQC, which used to have winter tires, did the best.

Note from the editors of www.elektrowoz.pl: This is tempting, but you have to be careful when comparing these figures with loudness measurements prepared by other media. Much depends on the tires, type of surface, wind speed and even the position of the decibel meter.
