Yamaha e-Vino: Japanese electric Vespa at a low price

Built for the city and inspired by the lines of the legendary Italian Vespas, the Yamaha e-Vino is particularly affordable. What to forgive very limited characteristics?

Still very low-key in the electric scooter segment, Yamaha has just lifted the curtain on a new model called the e-Vino. Austere one-seater, this small electric car is designed primarily for the city. Featuring 68 kg empty and 74 kg with a small 500 Wh battery, it only delivers 29 kilometers of battery life. However, heavy riders will be able to purchase the second package, which, with the same capacity, will increase the flight range to 58 kilometers. At a generous estimate, the manufacturer calculated an average speed of 30 km / h with a driver of just 55 kg. With a good steering wheel size and more nervous behavior, it will be necessary to remove from 30 to 50% with the declared theoretical autonomy.

As far as the engine is concerned, the configuration corresponds to the power declared by the battery. Limited to a top speed of 44 km / h, Yamaha's small electric scooter does not burn asphalt with a rated power of 580 watts and a peak power of 1200 watts. Even if the manufacturer claims to have a boost function with a duration limited to 30 seconds, crossing certain hills is dangerous.

Coming soon in Europe?

The Yamaha e-Vino is currently only offered in the Japanese market, at a current price of 259 yen, or around 600 euros.

According to RideApart, the manufacturer could register patents for its electric scooter in Europe. This does not guarantee product sales, but confirms the manufacturer's interest in the European market. In any case, we hope that Yamaha will see its copy again if it decides to launch this e-wine in our regions. Because with the current performance it may be difficult to meet the expectations of the European market.
