Yamaha EC01: Japanese electric scooter coming to Europe soon?

Shown at the end of 2019 at the Tokyo Auto Show, electric scooter Yamaha EC01 may soon appear on the market in Europe.

Lagging behind in the electric scooter segment, mainstream manufacturers can quickly catch up. Japanese Yamaha, already tied to Taiwanese company Gogoro to launch an electric model in the Asian market, could soon attack Europe with a production version of the Yamaha EC01.

Introduced as a concept at the end of 2019 in Tokyo, this 125 electric scooter was recently registered with the European Union Intellectual Property Office. If it were a simple fixation of the model name, it could also confirm the manufacturer's plans for Europe, where sales of electric scooters continue to grow.

The manufacturer's schedule is unclear. The same is true for the characteristics and performance of a model that could compete with a future production version of the BMW CE04. Please note that the Japanese brand can also invest in the 50 cc segment. See if he takes up the serial production of the Yamaha EC-02 Concept.
