Forget the Tesla roadster: the Polestar 02 concept is a two-door electric car that could actually come

Polestar 02 Concept wants to film your driving.

Electric car upstart Polestar has taken the wraps off its latest concept car, with the super-cool, high-performance O2 car serving as the "hero car" for the brand.

It's a concept for now, but almost certainly fit for a production car. The 02 rides on a bespoke aluminum platform for high rigidity and lighter weight and takes the brand's spirit of sustainable materials to the next level.

And just because it wouldn't be a real concept without something a little crazy, the 02 also features a "standalone cinematic drone" to capture your driving antics.

But first, nuts and bolts. But to be honest, there aren't too many details to analyze here. The Polestar 02 is a two-door, two-plus-two hardtop convertible.

How powerful is it? We do not know. How far can it travel between charges? This is also a mystery. We know that it is based on a new aluminum architecture that provides "trained dynamics" and "direct control".

So, the drone: a new airfoil pops out from behind the rear seats, which calms the air around the tail enough for a successful drone launch. Once deployed, the drone can track a car at speeds up to 90 km/h, making you feel like the star of your own life. Fast and furious Film.

“This is definitely more than just a fancy joke,” says Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath.

“I definitely think it serves a really relevant purpose in terms of making this trip in your car not only for the moment you enjoy it, but also to share it and keep that memory alive. And it’s much better to do it with a drone than with a phone in your hand.”

In terms of sustainability, the 02 features a “mono-material” approach, where one material is used for most of the internal components. In this case, it is recycled polyester, which is used for all foams, adhesives, XNUMXD knitted fibers and nonwoven lamination.

So will it happen? Maybe. Concept 02 is a window into the “future potential” of the brand.

“The Polestar O2 is our brand's hero car,” says Ingenlath.

“This is a taste of what we can design and engineer with our own talents and technologies. It looks incredible, and being able to lower the roof and not hear the engine promises an incredible feeling.”
