Everything that is done in cars by the automaker is done for a reason. Any gum, gasket, bolt, sealant and incomprehensible plastic thing is needed here for something. However, what seems good to engineers is not always convenient for car owners. And some of them boldly remove the element they do not need. Moreover, it still does not affect the speed of the car. And this means that cars intended for our market are full of options to smooth out certain inconveniences associated with the climate and the peculiarity of the road infrastructure. Take, for example, a plastic lining on the engine.

When inspecting a car, it's always nice to look under the hood. This is where you can truly enjoy the genius of engineering, contemplating the heavy components and assemblies that set the car in motion. Power wires, collector, engine, generator, starter, drive rollers and belts ... - one wonders how it is possible to pack all this into such a limited engine compartment. However, that's what engineers are for. And to make it all look beautiful, designers are involved in the process, with whom it is sometimes extremely difficult for engineers to find a common language.

The plastic cover on the engine is a beautiful accessory in terms of design. Agree, the eye rejoices when not bare wires look at you from the engine compartment, but a pitch-black embossed cover with a sparkling brand logo. I remember that before this was the prerogative of expensive foreign cars. Today, the engine cover has become a fashionable accessory for cars of an inexpensive segment. Well, the Chinese adopted this trend even earlier than others.

However, making the engine compartment beautiful is not the only task of the plastic lining. Still, first of all, this is a functional item, which, according to the engineers, should cover the vulnerable parts of the engine from dirt flying through the radiator grille. However, some drivers prefer to remove it. And there are reasons for that.

Among motorists there are a lot of fans to service the car on their own. Well, they like to poke around in technology - change candles, oil, filters, all kinds of technical fluids, check whether the connections and terminals are reliable, if there are any smudges. And every time, during even an ordinary inspection, removing the plastic cover, especially when the car is far from new, is simply inconvenient - extra gestures, you can get your hands dirty. And therefore, having removed such an overlay once, they no longer return it to its place, but sell it, or leave it to gather dust in the garage. In the end, for some car models, these casings are like a work of art - you can hang them on the wall and collect them.

However, we still recommend that when buying a used car, see in advance whether there should be plastic protection on its motor. If it should, but the seller did not provide it to you, this is a reason to demand a discount.
