Why do I need an antenna on the front bumper?

Sometimes you can find quite unusual cars. Some are distinguished by a 6-wheel chassis, others by a sliding body, and still others can increase the clearance to one meter. But sometimes manufacturers produce ordinary cars with incomprehensible at first glance filling.

Basically, it is installed on the corner of the front passenger side. Why did you need to do this if such an “accessory” spoiled the design of the car a little?

Following state standards, car companies have developed one of the first assistants for the driver. This system allowed you to quickly get used to the dimensions of the car. Thanks to this, the driver could determine to what extent he could approach a car parked from the front passenger side. She worked on the principle of radar, which scanned the space near the front of the car, and signaled that it was approaching an obstacle.

Why they are no longer installed

In fact, the antenna mounted on the front bumper played the role of a pacron. The first modifications had just this form. Despite the practicality of the device, such a system very quickly went out of fashion, as it greatly influenced the design of the car.

For this reason, this option has been finalized and changed to “masked” counterparts (small sensors are installed in the bumper and have the form of large round tablets).

There was another reason why the antennas were quickly removed from the design of those models. The problem was vandalism. A thin antenna sticking out of the bumper was often too tempting for young people to simply pass by. At that time, street video surveillance was not yet developed.
