Orders for the V150-powered F-8 Raptor R could begin in the fall of 2022.

The arrival of the new Ford F-150 Raptor R pickup has not yet been determined, but there are rumors that it could happen very soon. The Raptor R can also be powered by a V8 engine with up to 760 horsepower.

We already knew that the V150-powered Ford F-8 Raptor R would arrive sometime in 2022. But according to the new report, we may have a slightly more precise time frame for when that will happen.

Raptor R may arrive earlier than planned

says the order book for the high-performance F-150 Raptor R will open this fall. If true, this would likely mean an official disclosure shortly before. It also means that interested buyers have seven to nine months to get their finances in order and/or befriend their local Ford dealer so there are no "problems" when it comes to appointment time.

This all sounds like great news, but a Ford spokesman commented, "We are not giving a date for the opening of the Raptor R order bank." So until Ford can officially confirm this, this remains speculation.

V8 engine for Raptor R

Other rumors about the Raptor R include the presence of a V8 engine, specifically the 760-horsepower 5.2-liter Predator crank engine from . Ford Authority claims this engine will be slightly detuned to 750 hp. for the Raptor R. However, this V8-powered Raptor is likely to outperform the 702-hp Hellcat-powered Ram TRX.

For reference, the existing non-R uses a twin-turbocharged 6-litre EcoBoost V3.5 that makes 450bhp. and 510 lb-ft of torque. It also features next-generation 3.1-inch Fox shocks that provide 14 and 15 inches of suspension travel front and rear. The Raptor's thick 37-inch tires don't hinder its off-road capabilities either.

However, not many specific details are known about the upcoming Raptor R other than the fact that it is real, it will appear sometime this year, presumably it will be a sportier version of the F-150 Raptor with a capital R, and despite on rumors around this car, it will be "100% legal for road use".
