The State of North Dakota offers a number of benefits and privileges to those Americans who have either served in a branch of the armed forces in the past or are currently serving in the military.
North Dakota military residents return from assignment
If you have stored your vehicle(s) while traveling overseas, you will need to contact your local DMV office in North Dakota and file a completed Application for Certificate of Ownership and Vehicle Registration (SFN 2872). how:

There are no special pay benefits for North Dakotans returning from active duty or who may qualify for veteran status. There is an additional $25 fee for each of these special military plates, which is charged annually along with your vehicle registration renewal. Plates cannot be reserved online, although you can search online to see if your preferred personalized plate is available.
Waiver of military skills exam
Since 2011, the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Administration has introduced a rule for the issuance of training permits for commercial training. This rule contains a provision to allow SDLAs (State Driver's License Agencies) to allow US military drivers to use their service-related truck driving experience in lieu of a skill test to obtain a CDL (commercial driver's license). To be eligible to skip this part of the testing process, a driver must apply within a year of leaving a military position that required them to drive a commercial vehicle. A driver must have two years of such driving experience to be eligible for the waiver program.
Applicants must certify for the SDLA:
His or her safe driving experience
That he or she did not have more than one license (other than a US military driver's license) in the previous two years.
That he or she has not had a driver's license (issued by the base state) suspended, revoked or revoked.
That he or she has not been convicted of a traffic violation that would have disqualified them from the CDL.
There are a number of offenses that can disqualify members of the military from participating in a skills waiver program; these include things like drunk driving, hit-and-run accidents, or using the CMV to commit a criminal offense.
The military qualification test waiver program in North Dakota and almost every other state is the result of a collaboration between the US Department of Defense, the US Army, and the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators to simplify the process of obtaining a CDL for veterans. Military Commercial Driver's License Act of 2012
This law gives states the authority to issue CDLs to active duty military personnel, including the Reserves, the National Guard, the Coast Guard, or the Coast Guard Auxiliary, even if they are not residents of North Dakota, as long as their temporary or permanent base is in North Dakota. Dakota.
