Utah Parking Laws: Understanding the Basics

Parking Rules to Remember
Drivers are prohibited from parking on sidewalks, intersections and pedestrian crossings. When parking, they must be at least 20 feet from a crosswalk. They must also be at least 15 feet from fire hydrants. It is illegal to park in front of a public or private driveway. Drivers must park at least 30 feet from flashing lights, stop signs, yield signs, and traffic lights. They also need to park at least 30 feet away from areas designated for pedestrians.
You cannot park within 20 feet of a fire station entrance if you are parking on the same side of the road. If there are signs and you are parking on the opposite side of the road, you will need to be at least 75 meters away from the entrance. Parking along or in front of any street excavations is illegal. The same applies to other obstacles on or near the road if you park in a place that could block traffic.
Double parking or off-road parking of an already parked car is also illegal. It is also illegal to park on any bridge or highway overpass. You also cannot park in tunnels. You are also not allowed to park on the side of interstate highways. The only time you can park in these areas is if your car breaks down or you experience any physical ailment.
Red curbs and red zones are also prohibited when it comes to parking. Also, never park in handicapped spaces unless you have signs and signs that allow it.
