Replacing the battery with a VAZ 2114-2115
The rechargeable battery on Lada Samara cars, such as VAZ 2113, 2114 and 2115, on average, regularly serves from 3 to 5 years. There are, of course, exceptions to the rules and some batteries can last about 7 years, but this is extremely rare. As a rule, Akom factory batteries last 3 years, after which they no longer hold a charge properly.
Of course, you can recharge the battery once a week or two using a special charger, but still, the best option is to replace it with a new one. In fact, replacing the battery is quite simple and requires a minimum of tools:
- head for 10 and 13 mm
- rattle or collar
- extension
How to remove a battery on a VAZ 2114-2115
It is necessary to open the hood of the car, then loosen the clamping bolt of the negative terminal using a 10 mm head. Then we remove the terminal, which is clearly shown in the photo below.
We perform the same procedure with the “+” terminal.
Next, you need to unscrew the nut of the fixing plate, which presses the battery from below. The most convenient way to do this is with a ratchet handle and an extension.
The plate must be removed, after which we take out the battery without any problems.
The plate looks like this, in case anyone has any questions.
Installing a new battery is in reverse order. It is advisable to thoroughly wipe the place where the battery is installed, you can even put a plastic or rubber pad so that the battery case does not rub against the metal! Before putting on the terminals, you need to apply a special lubricant to them to prevent the formation of oxide.
