Replacing the ABS sensor on the Ford Focus 2

A large number of different sensors installed on modern cars are designed to ensure the safety of the driver, as well as increase the life of the car and all its systems. However, the coin, as you know, has two sides, the same can be said about the sensors. Often it is these sensors that cause problems with the engine and the entire machine as a whole. Quite often there are cases when owners of "complete" cars from time to time go around various service stations in search of the cause of their car's malfunction.

It is very disappointing when, after a long and painful search, often removing and replacing certain nodes, some kind of sensor becomes the cause, which, at first glance, does not play any role at all and does not affect anything. And even more embarrassingly, the price of such a sensor often exceeds the cost of a large, important part of a complex design. But nothing can be done, you have to pay for everything, comfort and safety are above all!

Replacing the ABS sensor on the Ford Focus 2

In this article I will talk about how to replace the ABS sensor on a Ford Focus 2 at home so that you do not repeat my and other people's mistakes, and the replacement goes “like clockwork”.

The need to replace the ABS sensor most often occurs when the ABS system is unstable or if one or another sensor malfunctions. Sometimes it happens that during work (for example, when replacing a wheel bearing) in order to perform certain work, it is necessary to disassemble the ABS sensor, as a result, such attempts often end in failure. A fully functioning sensor is damaged due to the fact that during operation it becomes very sour, “sticks” to the seat, so it can only be removed in pieces. But it still makes sense to try, especially since there are ways to carefully remove this sensor, for example, using a conventional bolt. A bolt with a nut is installed in the mounting hole of the wheel bearing, after which, by turning the bolt head, the sensor is removed from its place. See photo below.

5. If the sensor does not give in, you need to remove the cuff together with the sleeve.

6. We take a bolt with a nut, which I mentioned above, and try to pull the sensor out of its seat. In this case, it will be extremely difficult to maintain the integrity of the sensor.

7. After the sensor has left the seat, it is necessary to clean the seat and prepare it for installing a new sensor.

8. Before installing a new ABS sensor on the Ford Focus 2, I recommend lubricating the seat with graphite grease, this will make your life easier in the future ...

9. The new sensor is installed in the same way, in reverse order.

10. After completing all the work, do not forget to connect the power supply of the sensor, as well as reset the error, for this it is enough to remove the “-” terminal for a couple of minutes. In principle, many say that it is not necessary to do anything, just go out on the road and make a few accelerations and press the brake pedal, since the ABS unit diagnoses the normal operation of the system and the ABS turns off the “hated light.

If the light comes on again or does not go out after a couple of minutes, do not rush to blame the sensor or factory defects for this, very often the cause is incorrect installation of the wheel bearing or violations made during assembly, even when installing the ABS sensor itself.

I have everything, now, if necessary, you will know how to replace the ABS sensor on a Ford Focus 2 with your own hands. Thank you for your attention and see you at the Ford Master website.
