Replacing the coolant temperature sensor VAZ 2114

If the coolant temperature sensor fails on a VAZ 2114-2115 car, the following malfunction symptoms may occur:

1. Cooling Fan Failure Due to Invalid Data
2. Difficulty starting the engine, especially on frosty days

You can replace this part without any problems on your own and it is enough to have only one key for 19 at hand, although it will be most convenient to use a deep head and a ratchet.

Where is the coolant temperature sensor on the VAZ 2114

The location of this part will be presented clearly in the photo below, but in a nutshell, it is located in close proximity to the thermostat and cylinder head.

In order to carry out the process as quickly and without unnecessary problems, it is best to take the air filter housing to the sides:

First, disconnect the power plug from the sensor, as shown in the photo below.

Be careful, as the plug has a plastic retainer, which must first be slightly bent.

If the engine has been shut off recently, you must wait for it to cool down. Then there are two ways to replace the sensor:

1. Drain the coolant from the VAZ 2114 systemand then unscrew the sensor
2. Unscrew the DTOZH, and immediately install a new one, plugging the hole for a few seconds with your finger

I chose the second method for myself, since it is the simplest and fastest. We turn everything off with a deep head:

And closing the hole with your finger, as mentioned above, we immediately install a new one in place.

The new sensor is not very expensive at a price and its cost is about 200 rubles, and about 500 rubles will have to be paid for the imported one. The detail looks like this:

Please note that when replacing the O-ring is not lost, otherwise the possibility of leakage of antifreeze or antifreeze at the place of its installation is not excluded. We connect everything to its place and check the performance.
