To remove the windshield washer nozzle, open the hood and, while pressing the nozzle on the spray side, turn and remove it. Disconnect the hose from the nozzle. For removal of a nozzle of washing from glass of a door of a back remove dimensional fire from the top level (see the Section Removal, installation and adjustment of illuminants), disconnect a hose from a nozzle and push through a door, squeezing ledges of a clamp. Make sure air only flows in the opposite direction of the hose. If not, replace nozzle. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal. Finally, adjust the nozzles (see Adjusting the Windshield Washers).

Choice of nozzles

Currently, most car owners use fan washer nozzles. Its advantage is that water falls on the windshield not in drops or a couple of jets of liquid, but immediately in a large number of small drops, due to which most of the glass is immediately covered. This is the main advantage of the fan blades, thanks to which the wipers begin to work on wet glass, gently removing precipitation or dirt.

This, of course, provides the least risk of the wipes leaving streaks on the glass surface, since the wipes will no longer rest on a dry surface. Many car owners also claim that the use of this type of nozzle reduces washer fluid consumption. The only drawback is their unusual design, due to which they quickly freeze in the cold season, but in this case it is recommended to immediately select and install elements with a heating function.

There are recommendations for choosing original injectors, depending on the brand of your car. But they can be expensive, in which case you can opt for non-original ones. The alternative will cost less, but some improvements are possible on them. The most common injectors that are suitable for installation on many brands of cars are from the Volvo S80, and even a cheaper version from SsangYong. Daewoo Lanos and Chevrolet Aveo are ideal for Skoda vehicles. In addition, for example, Mitsubishi Galant elements of 2008 are suitable for many car models.

They may not have a regular check valve. Thanks to it, liquid is prevented from returning to the tank of the washing machine if the suction pump does not work.

It is this valve that contributes to the continuous supply of fluid. It is in the form of a spring-loaded ball and closes the hole in the nozzle if the washer does not supply fluid to the glass.

In general, you can do without this valve, but then you have to come up with another way so that the wipers do not work before water is applied to the glass. Such a valve can also be selected from different cars, for example, from VAZ 08 or 09, Toyota or Volvo.

Accurate fault diagnosis

The first thing that comes to mind for a car enthusiast who is faced with a breakdown of a washing machine on the road is cleaning the nozzles with improvised means. The measure is justified when the clogging of the jet is visible to the naked eye: removing debris with a needle or pin will take only a few minutes. But often the failure of sprinklers is associated with other reasons:

1. Malfunction of the electric pump, which does not pump water when the button is pressed.
2. Clogged supply lines.
3. The banal lack of liquid in the tank of the washing machine.
4. Injector malfunction.

Before you start cleaning the nozzles, open the hood and make sure that the washer fluid is present. There are different situations: for example, a plastic tank has cracked, water has been spilled, and a stain under the car is imperceptible due to rainy weather. Leaks also occur at the mounting flange of the electric pump.

If you don't hear the pump buzzing when you press the lever, try replacing the fuse immediately. Replacing the fusible link did not help - remove and repair the pumping device. Elements with a non-separable design must be replaced with new ones.

It is not difficult to determine a tube clogged with dirt. Having reached the bottom of the sprayer, remove the inlet pipe, turn on the ignition and press the washer button. If the buzzing of the electric pump is heard and water barely drips from the tube, it should be thoroughly cleaned and rinsed.

Cleaning the injectors

If you notice that the fluid jet has weakened, then most likely the washer nozzles are clogged and it's time to clean them. You can do it yourself, for cleaning you will need: something thin (rope, wire, needle or pin), a large twenty cubic centimeter syringe, water, soap and a compressor.

Be sure to check if the problem is really in them. To do this, you need to check the presence of water in the washer reservoir, then you need to disconnect the hoses that supply the fluid and turn on the suction. If there is a good flow from the tubes, then they really need to be cleaned.

1. After disconnecting the water supply hoses, wash the nozzle thoroughly with soap and water, then reconnect the hose to the compressor and blow.
2. Draw water into the syringe and rinse the nozzle thoroughly in the opposite direction. Gently clean the nozzle opening with a thin object (such as a needle, etc.), then flush it with water using a syringe.
3. If you have a folding car in your car, he disassembles it, cleans it, and then assembles and installs it again.
4. After reinstalling it in the car, it is worth flushing the entire system.

If the clogging of the elements began to occur frequently, the washer drum may be clogged, so check it for debris.

Flushing with removal

In particularly advanced cases, sprinklers should not be cleaned by traditional methods - using needles, wires and syringes. There is only one option left - to disassemble the nozzles from the car, rinse well, and if the result fails, buy and install new parts.

In many modern vehicles, the sprinklers are held in place by plastic clips. Disassembly is carried out in the following order:

1. Find a narrow flathead screwdriver in the garage.
2. To remove the washer nozzle, pry the product from the lower shelf with a screwdriver and pull it up.
3. Pull out the element together with the nozzle.
4. Turn off your headset. As a rule, it is placed on the accessory without fixing with a clamp.

Link. On some cars, the injectors may be connected differently - you need to unlock the latches from the bottom.

Soak the removed item for a day in a soapy solution or try treating it with a chemical detergent. Finally, blow out the nozzle with a pump or compressor and install the nozzle back in reverse order. Check where the jet hits and adjust the element if necessary. If the above manipulations did not lead to the desired result, then simply replace the atomizer; parts are cheap.
