Replacing the brake master cylinder on Grant

The reliability of factory components and assemblies on domestic cars is quite high. And taking into account the fact that many parts are imported, the failure of such parts is extremely rare. This node can be attributed to the main brake cylinder on the Grant - either the Italian GTZ or the Korean company MANDO is installed from the factory. These are very high quality parts that have exceptional reliability.

But if, for any reason, the part is still out of order, then it must be replaced with a new one, especially since it is better not to tighten it with the brake system. In order to change the master brake cylinder on Grant, you will need the following tool:

  1. Special split wrench 13 mm
  2. 13 mm head
  3. Ratchet
  4. Extension

Before proceeding with this repair, it is necessary to pump out the brake fluid from the reservoir using a conventional syringe with a nozzle (flexible tube). After that, you can unscrew the two tubes, which is clearly shown in the photo below:

One tube is in close proximity to the heater insulation, so you have to move it a little to the side to get to it. Then we disconnect the chip for connecting the power to the brake fluid reservoir.

When both tubes are unscrewed, it looks like this.

Now we take a 13 mm head, preferably deep, and unscrew the two brake cylinder mounting nuts.

Then you can remove it from the mounting pins on the vacuum amplifier:

It is most convenient to do this when assembled with a tank, since such a replacement is more convenient and does not require additional labor costs during repairs. If you decide that you can leave the old tank, remove it from the latches and carefully pry it off, removing the fittings from the holes in the GTZ. Installation is carried out in the reverse order, of course with pumping the brake system after repair.

The price of a new master brake cylinder for a Grant is about 1500 rubles for the original, and you can buy this part in almost every car shop. But a more suitable option in this case is to buy at a car dismantling, since it is there that you can get the necessary spare part half the price of the store, and often with higher quality.
