Replacing the muffler on the Grant

The rear of the muffler on Lada Grant cars most often becomes unusable. If we consider the failure of the exhaust system parts in chronological order, then it is the rear muffler that burns out first, then the resonator, and the last one is the exhaust manifold. It is the rear muffler that we will change in this article.

To carry out this repair, we need the following tools and accessories:

1. Penetrating grease
2. Key for 13 caps
3. 13mm head and ratchet
4. Jack

Removal and installation of the Lada Granta muffler

The first step is to drive the car into the inspection hole, or carry out this procedure with the rear of the car raised using a jack. In order to remove the muffler, the first step is to apply a penetrating lubricant to the threaded connections at the junction with the resonator.

Now, using a key and a 13 mm head, unscrew the fastening bolts (clamp), as shown clearly in the photo below.

Next, we disconnect the two parts of the exhaust system, and remove the muffler from the suspension rubber bands, on which it is attached to the car body on one side:

Installing a new muffler on the Grant occurs in the reverse order of removal. To avoid leaks in the exhaust system, it is necessary to thoroughly clean the connecting ring, or replace it with a new one. The price of a quality muffler for a Grant can vary from 1200 to 1800 rubles. The most ideal option is to buy a fresh factory muffler at disassembly with a minimum car mileage.
