Replacing the engine oil and oil filter on a VAZ 2107-2105

Since the procedure for changing the oil on all “classic” cars is practically the same, the description of this procedure will be carried out using the VAZ 2107-2105 as an example, but be aware that there is no difference. It is worth noting that the manufacturer strongly recommends doing this procedure at least once every 15 km. Although in fact, it is better to change engine oil more often, at least once every 000 or even 10 thousand kilometers.

So, to perform this maintenance item, we need:

• Canister of fresh engine oil, at least 4 liters
• Hexagon 12
• A watering can or a bottleneck from a 1,5 liter bottle (optional)
• As well as a container for draining mining

Engine oil change procedure

So, the first step is to warm up the engine to a temperature of at least 50 degrees so that the oil becomes liquid and flows well from the sump. After that, we unscrew the filler cap and unscrew the plug from the pallet, having previously substituted an unnecessary container under the engine, at least 4 liters. You can take a five liter bottle.

Now we wait a few minutes until the old used oil completely drains from the engine sump:

At the same time, we unscrew the old oil filter. If you cannot unscrew it by hand, which sometimes happens, then you must use a puller. But in most cases, it is not so difficult to turn it out with your hands:

After all the used oil has drained, you can screw the drain plug into the pan into place. Then we take a new oil filter and pour some fresh oil into it, and be sure to lubricate the sealing gum with it:

We wrap it in its place and now you can pour new oil into the VAZ 2107-2105 engine.

It is necessary to check the level with a dipstick, it must be between the MIN and MAX marks:

We twist back the filler cap and start the car engine. It is worth considering that in the first seconds of engine operation, the warning lamp for emergency oil pressure may be on, but do not worry too much, as this is not abnormal. It will spontaneously go out in about a couple of seconds.

Do not forget to replace fuel and lubricants on time, and then your engine will run for a long time and trouble-free, of course, you need to operate it carefully, do not exceed the prescribed speed and follow the driving style.
