Changing the engine oil Kalina and Grants
Today we will consider the procedure for changing the oil in the engine on Lada Kalina and Grant with an 8-valve engine, although there is no particular difference from a 16-valve one. Since the cars are almost the same and the engines are 99 percent identical, the replacement is the same on each of these cars.
So, to do this work, we need:
- Fresh oil canister at least 4 liters (semi-synthetics or synthetics)
- New oil filter
- Filter remover (if it is impossible to unscrew it by hand)
- Hexagon for 12 or a key for 19 for unscrewing the pallet cap (depending on which one you have installed)
Draining the used oil and unscrewing the old filter
First, it is necessary to warm up the Kalina engine (Grants) to operating temperature, so that the oil becomes liquid and better drains from the sump.
Then we unscrew the plug from the filler neck, and substituting the container under the pallet, unscrew the plug from there:
After that, we try to unscrew the old oil filter with our hands, if we failed to do this, we will need a special puller (it happens in exceptional cases):
Now we twist back the pan cap and open a new filter. Before screwing it into place, you need to fill half of its container with oil and grease the gum:
Next, install it in its place. Fill the required oil level by measuring with the dipstick so that the level is between the MIN and MAX marks:
We twist back the filler cap and start the engine. We are waiting for a couple of seconds until the emergency oil pressure lamp in the engine goes out.
Do not forget that an oil change must be carried out at least 15 thousand kilometers, although I would recommend doing this even more often, since it will definitely not be worse from this, but there will be more benefits.
