As in other models of VAZ cars with front-wheel drive, the oil change in the Lada Kalina gearbox should be carried out after 75 thousand kilometers. What is required to change the oil
To perform this procedure, you must prepare the following materials and tools:
- Canister with new transmission oil for the gearbox.
- Ring key on "17".
- A watering can with a hose approximately 50 cm long for filling in new oil.
- Container for drained oil.
- Rags or rags.
Replacement is carried out on a warmed-up power unit after a trip. It is necessary to work with caution, as you can burn yourself on the hot drained oil. Replacement is carried out at a viewing pit, overpass or lift.
The procedure for changing the oil in the gearbox
- Place the machine over the inspection pit and fix the wheels using the hand brake or other means.
- For better access and ease of replacement of the spent fluid, it is advisable to remove the lower engine protection.
- The previously prepared container is placed under the drain hole and its cap is carefully unscrewed with a key on "17". The draining process can take about 10-15 minutes.
- We unscrew the drain plug of the gearbox
- At the end of the drain, wipe the place around the drain hole with a rag and wrap the plug back. Here again you need a spanner wrench or a head on "17".
- The filling should be carried out using a watering can, which has a long neck, or a piece of hose of a suitable diameter, about half a meter long, is added to it.
- The hose or the neck of the watering can must be directed into the filler hole of the gearbox and secured against unauthorized movements by means of available means.
- Filling new transmission oil in the Lada Kalina gearbox
- For filling, you will need about three liters of gear oil, which is almost all poured through a watering can into the gearbox.
- The level of the filled oil is monitored using a dipstick. It has two marks for control, which are designated "MAX" and "MIN". The instruction manual recommends that the level is in the middle between these marks. Experts recommend overestimating it a little, since the fifth gear, due to the specifics and design features, is experiencing "oil hunger". In this case, it is appropriate to recall the saying that you cannot spoil porridge with butter.
- It is necessary to check the lubricant level in the box after a while, allowing it to collect in the box crankcase.
- After reaching the desired level of lubrication, carefully remove the watering can, wrap the filler cap and wipe the filling area with a rag.
- Carefully inspect the power unit, there may be grease leaks, eliminate them, if any.
- You can put the engine protection back in place, if it was removed, and go wash your hands.
As you can see, nothing complicated is observed in this operation, and it may well be performed independently, even by a novice driver.
