Replacing the guide pins of the caliper on the Grant

With a sufficiently large mileage on the Lada Grant car, such a nuisance may arise as the rattling of the caliper. The reasons why this happens are most likely the following:
- Weakening of the spring clips on the brake pads themselves, which can be cured by simply straightening them a little
- The development of the guide pins of the calipers due to insufficient lubrication in them \
In this post, we will look at the second case, as it deserves special attention. In order to replace fingers, you will need a tool such as:
- Flat screwdriver
- 13 and 17 mm wrenches
- Caliper Grease
- Brake cleaner
Checking, replacing and lubricating guide pins
The main reason for the wear of the guide pins is damage to the anther, which entails “loss” of lubrication and “dry” operation. I think that it is not necessary to explain once again about the force of friction. In this case, the fingers wear out pretty quickly.
As a result, we get a backlash of the caliper brackets on the guides and our unpleasant rattling! Now regarding the elimination of this problem. To do this, you will need to buy two pins for each caliper. Assembled with anthers, their price is no more than 50 rubles, even less.
We raise the car with a jack, or rather, its front part. Loosen and remove the wheel. Next, we need to unlock the caliper bracket mounting bolts to replace them.
We fold the bracket to the side, as shown in the photo below.
And now you can remove the upper finger by pulling it with the necessary effort:
Now we take a new finger, apply a special lubricant on it with a thin layer.
And we install it in its original place, planting it all the way so that the boot is fixed on special grooves.
We perform the same procedure with the second finger and install all the removed parts in reverse order. It is worth noting that for lubrication it is necessary to use special formulations that are able to maintain all their working properties at high temperatures.
