Step-by-step algorithm for replacing the upper arm

Step 1. We hang the front wheel and remove it. Next, you need to unscrew the nut that secures the steering knuckle to the upper ball joint. If you already have a ball puller, then removing the fist from the ball is not difficult. And if there is no puller, then you can use a hammer (of course, not a desirable method, but do something when there is no puller at hand). The fact is that the place where the fist is attached to the ball has a conical shape and the task is to knock the fist off this cone. To do this, you need to hit the top of the fist from the side a couple of times. When he moves away you will notice it and now you can remove the fist from the ball.

Step 2. We proceed to the removal of the old lever. Next, we will consider the case of removing the lever on the right, since this option is the most difficult due to the availability of the fixing bolts. The bolt head is located under the air filter, it will need to be removed (you can disconnect 2 clips in front of the MAF, remove the cover, pull out the filter and the bottom box, it is attached with rubber bands - you just need to pull it up).

But with the nut, everything is more complicated. Of course, a special hatch has been prepared for her so that you can get from under the wing, but you may be able to unscrew it in this way, but it is almost impossible to put it. Drop a bunch of nuts, while tightening the new lever is recommended when the machine is lowered onto the supplied wheel, and with the wheel installed, you will not get to this hatch to tighten the lever to the end.

Step 3. Therefore, consider a rather time-consuming, but sure way to replace the upper arm on the right. From above, the nut is closed by the “brains” of the car. We remove the cover from the "brains". We will need to unscrew the entire box with wiring and pull it up a little. The lower part of the box is attached with 4 bolts. To unscrew them, you need a head for 8, and with an extension cord. You will also need to disconnect some connectors that will interfere, but there is nothing complicated, they are all different and it is impossible to make a mistake.

Step 4. After you take out the box with the computer, you can reach the cherished nut with a 16 key. By the way, the head of the bolt is 15. Unscrew the lever and install a new one, you need to bait the nut, but do not tighten it. After that, we fasten the steering knuckle to the ball of the already new lever, tightening the nut well. Install the wheel and lower the car. Now we can tighten the lever mounting bolts.

Everything, the new lever is installed, now it is necessary to assemble the computer and wiring, as well as the air filter in reverse order. There is nothing complicated here - it assembles in a few minutes.
