Replacing the front pads on a VAZ 2107-2105 with your own hands
The front pads on the VAZ 2107 usually go for quite a long time, especially this rule applies to factory brakes. It is not uncommon for a pair of factory pads to easily take care of more than 50 with moderate use of the car - that is, without constant hard braking.
Many novice owners of the VAZ 2107 prefer to service their cars at service stations, although in fact this procedure can be done as quickly as possible by yourself and with minimal effort. But first, I would like to provide a list of the necessary tools that will be needed to complete this simple repair:
- Phillips and flathead screwdrivers
- Pliers
- Hammer
The procedure for replacing the front pads of the front wheel brake mechanism on the VAZ 2107-2105
First, I will present my specially prepared video instruction, and only then I will describe the whole process in a photo report:
So, before proceeding with this repair of 2105 or 2107, you need to raise the front of the car and remove the wheel, which will require a wheel wrench and a jack.
After that, we see the entire brake assembly together with the caliper. Next, we need to remove with a thin screwdriver two cotter pins that hold the pads rods. One cotter pin is on the top and the other on the bottom. This is clearly demonstrated in the photo below:
After that, use a screwdriver to squeeze out the stock rods. If they do not come out, then it is necessary to lubricate the whole thing with a penetrating lubricant. If the rods come out with force, then you can lightly knock on the screwdriver or breakdown with a hammer:
Now you can remove the spring clips that hold the brake pads:
Then you can try to pull the pads out of their seat. They usually do not fit snugly and can be removed without any extra effort. But if there are problems, then you can pry them, for example, with a screwdriver:
After that, you can certainly remove them with the effort of your hand:
After that, you can replace the front pads on your car, installing new ones in their original places. Before this, it is advisable to clean all the parts with a special tool - a brake cleaner. I use Ombra dutch chemistry
We install new parts in the reverse order of removal and enjoy flawless brakes, of course, provided that you have chosen a quality product. I personally use either the Ferrodo or ATE brand of pads, as I am completely confident in the quality of the products of these brands.
