Since the Lada Granta is, in fact, the twin of the Kalina car, the replacement of the front brake pads will be carried out in exactly the same way. All this is done quite simply in a garage, with a couple of keys and a jack at hand. A detailed list of the required tools will be presented below:
- 13 and 17 mm wrenches
- Flat screwdriver
- Hammer
- Balloon wrench
- Jack
- Mount (if necessary)
- Copper grease (preferred)

So, first of all, you need to rip off the front wheel bolts and lifting the car with a jack, remove it completely.
After that, using an ordinary flat screwdriver, bend the locking washers of the caliper bolt, as clearly shown in the photo below.
Now you can unscrew the upper bolt of the caliper bracket with a 13 wrench or a head, holding the nut with a 17 wrench from the inside:
We take out the bolt together with the washer and now you can lift the caliper bracket up using a screwdriver or pry bar.
To raise it to the end, it is also necessary to disengage the brake hose from the rack, and raise the caliper as much as possible, so that the brake pads become available for removing them:
We take out the old worn out pads and replace them with new ones. After lowering the caliper into place, problems may arise as the new brake pads will be thicker and may be problematic to put on the caliper. If such a moment occurs, then it is necessary to drown the brake cylinder into place using a pry bar, hammer or special devices.
Also, it is advisable to apply copper grease to the point of contact between the pads and the caliper bracket. This will avoid vibration and extraneous sounds during braking, and will also reduce the heating of the entire mechanism.
The price of new pads for the front wheels ranges from 300 to 700 rubles per set. It all depends on the quality of these parts and their manufacturer.
