Replacing the front brake pads on the Priora

The wear of the front brake pads on the Lada Priora mainly depends on factors such as the quality of the pads themselves, as well as on the manner and style of driving the car. It happens that such pads come across that after 5 km of run they are erased to metal, after which they begin to actively gobble up the brake disc, if they are not replaced in time. As for the driving style, here, I think, it should be clear to everyone that the more you like to resort to sharp braking, turning on the handbrake, etc., the sooner you will have to change these consumables.

Replacing the front brake pads on the Priora is quite simple, and this whole procedure is no different from other domestic front-wheel drive cars. To carry out this type of repair, you will need the following tools, the list of which I have given below:

  • flat screwdriver
  • 13 spanner wrench or ratchet with wrench and head

tool for replacing the front pads on the Prior

First, you need to unscrew the front wheel bolts, but not completely, then raise the front of the car with a jack and finally unscrew all the bolts, remove the wheel. Now, on the reverse side of the caliper, you need to bend the so-called lock washers with a screwdriver, as clearly shown in the photo:

Then unscrew the bolt with a key and take it out:

Next, you need to release the brake hose, remove it from the gearing on the rack:

Now you can insert a flat screwdriver under the caliper bracket and lift it slightly so that you can grab it with your hand later:

Further, there should be no problems, since without unnecessary effort the bracket should rise all the way up:

And it remains only to remove the front pads of the Priora and replace them, if necessary:

If, when installing new pads, the caliper then does not go down all the way down, this means that the brake cylinders protrude slightly and do not allow this to be done. In this case, you need to push them back all the way. This can be done with a hammer handle and a pry bar. For example, in my case it looked like this, as shown in the picture below:

Now you can repeat the procedure, since nothing else will interfere! Installation is carried out in reverse order and remember to bend the washers to secure the bolt. As for the cost of the front brake pads on the Prior, the price may be different, depending on the manufacturer. For example, the cheapest ones can cost from 300 rubles, and better quality ones even 700 rubles. But it's better not to skimp on this.
