Replacement of front brake pads on VAZ 2109

If you bought a new car, then most likely the factory pads can safely retreat about 50 km until the braking performance begins to noticeably deteriorate. You should not allow excessive wear of the pads, as this can lead to excessive wear of the brake discs, and this is a more expensive repair.

So, below will be a list of the necessary tools that will be needed to replace the front brake pads on the VAZ 2109:

1. Jack
2. Flat screwdriver
3. Balloon wrench
4. Wrench for 13 open-end or cap
5. Key for 17

The procedure for replacing the pads of the front brake mechanisms on the VAZ 2109

I must say right away that I will give an example of photos on my Kalina, but there is absolutely no difference between the VAZ 2109, so you should not pay special attention to this.

The first step is to raise the front of the car with a jack and remove the front wheel:

After that, with a flat screwdriver on the back, we pry and bend the lock washers that fix the caliper bracket bolts:

Now you can unscrew the upper bracket nut, holding the bolt from turning with a 17 wrench, as shown in the photo below:

Now you can flip the bracket up:

Then you can remove the pads, both external and internal, without any problems. And then we replace the front pads with new ones, after having lubricated the caliper fingers with grease, preferably copper. I use the following tool for braking mechanisms:

Now you can install all the removed parts in the reverse order and do not forget that after replacing the pads, they must be run in for the first time in order for the braking performance to be excellent. Sharp braking should be avoided in the first hundreds of kilometers.
